The preschool is open 9.15 – 14.15, during school term times.
The mornings, 9.15 – 11.45, are divided into two one hour sessions, 9.15 – 10.15 and 10.45 – 11.45, during which the staff work, mainly, one to one with the children while the others in the group are free to play.
During these sessions the children work on two planned activities which include pencil control, learning numbers and letters and creative, ‘messy’ experiences.
We try to balance creative experiences with more formal learning activities. The half hour separating these two sessions is spent having a snack followed by stories and singing.
If all the planned activities have been completed before the end of the morning then the staff will play games, read stories or do extra craft activities with the children.
The afternoons, 11.45 – 14.15, begin with lunch and then free play. Each child will complete one planned activity during an afternoon.
"My son absolutely loves going to Le Jardin. Being a smaller preschool, it has a real homely feel. I love it because it is very relaxed and my son gets to do a wide variety of activities - baking, school type work (letters, sounds), playing, crafts etc. The ratio of staff to children is fantastic - there is a lot of one to one time for each child as well as lots of group play. As it is smaller, the children learn good sharing skills and my little boy has made lots of good friends."
